2009 Show Rules - English Budgerigar Division
This will be a breeder show, meaning that no purchased or gift English Budgies may be shown. Only birds bred by the exhibitor and wearing a single closed band with the exhibitor's official band code are eligible. Any wrongly entered bird will be disqualified, as will the rest of that exhibitor's entries, thus forfeiting any and all awards and advancement legs.

This show will offer JUNIOR, NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE, RARE VARIETY, and CHAMPION divisions, to be judged according to the A.B.S. “Standard of Perfection.”

Entry fees are paid to the host club.

The show management reserves the right, without prior notice, to make such changes as are deemed best for the success of the show, such as: to add, to combine, to cancel existing classes, or to engage alternate or additional judges.

All budgies must be wearing a regulation, closed, coded leg band. Birds wearing mutilated or stretched bands will be disqualified, and the rest of that exhibitor's entries will also be removed from the show bench. All his awards will be forfeited, in accordance with the latest A.B.S. regulations. Furthermore, any exhibitor showing a bird wearing a mutilated or stretched band shall be reported to the A.B.S. for further action.

As of 1987 only birds banded with A.B.S. bands are eligible for the A.B.S. Best in Show plaques. Birds banded prior to 1987 with non A.B.S. bands are protected by a grandfather clause, therefore they are eligible for these plaques. The show committee will check bands on all birds that win these plaques.

Exhibitors are responsible for the classification of their own birds, though classifiers will be available to answer questions and assist in classifying. All entries and cage tags must be filled out completely. Two copies of the entry form are needed for this show: one copy for the exhibitor to hold for check-out purposes, and a second copy to be turned in to the judge's Secretary.
YOUR BIRDS ARE NOT OFFICIALLY ENTERED IN THIS SHOW
UNTIL THE JUDGE'S SECRETARY HAS A COPY OF YOUR ENTRY.

A.B.S. approved show cages are required which are in good condition, clean, and having sufficient seed in them to last the duration of the show week-end.

Each cage tag must be placed at the bottom left comer of the cage front. No drinkers of any kind will be allowed on the show cages until after all judging is completed.

No entry may be handled or transferred to another cage before check-out on Sunday unless personally approved by the Show Manager. No cage tags or awards may be removed from the show cages before check-out unless likewise approved. Also, no entry shall be removed from the show hall prior to check-out without the consent of the Show Manager.

From the time of entry until completion of judging, only stewards and show officials are permitted behind the judging stand. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Birds may be photographed only after all the judging has been completed.

Birds entered in the show may be placed on the Sales Table after all judging is completed, by paying the sales fee. See the Show Manager for details.

The show management will reject or remove any entry which shows signs of injury, stress, illness, or disease.

The REDWOOD BUDGIE HOBBYISTS and its show staff will not be responsible for any loss, accident, or damage to any exhibitor's person or property. All reasonable precautions will be taken to provide everyone a safe, secure show venue, and in caring for and handling all the birds.
